coming to Colorado to talk faith, family and ducks
Castle Rock, Colorado – Two of the co-stars of A&E’s hit reality TV show ‘Duck Dynasty’ are coming to Castle Rock as special guests for a fundraiser for The Rock Christian Academy, a small, private school. Phil and Willie Robertson will share their story of faith, family and work ethic during a speaking event at The Douglas County Fairgrounds and Events Center on May 19th.
“To have the stars of ‘Duck Dynasty,’ one of the biggest reality shows on television, come to Castle Rock is such a blessing. We’re a tiny school with only 86 students,” says PTF Director Irma DiFelice. “This means so much to us.”
Phil and Willie Robertson currently travel the country sharing their testimony. More than 3,000 people are expected to attend the Castle Rock event, which also includes a special VIP Meet and Greet. Tickets are still available.
With 8.6 million viewers, A&E’s ‘Duck Dynasty’ is the highest-rated reality show on cable TV. The idea for the event came from school PTF Assistant Director Michael Brumbaugh, “Our hearts are invested in this school so I prayed about who we could contact to be a guest. We wanted someone in line with our Christian values and that’s exactly what we got. Our hope is to raise awareness, grow our school and hopefully have a waiting list by next year.”
The money raised from ticket sales will help fund a 10,000 square foot expansion of the existing building, revitalize the school’s playground and provide financial aid and scholarships to families who can’t afford the tuition. The cost of elementary school tuition is about $4,700 per year. The school is hoping to raise several hundred thousand dollars.
About The Rock Christian Academy: The school opened its doors in the fall of 2008. It was a vision God gave The Rock church’s Head Pastor J.R. Polhemus. The school offers classes from pre-school to fourth grade, with plans to add a fifth grade next year. With its small class sizes, high-quality learning environment and bible-based values, its goal is to prepare students for the future and see them thrive.
