DENVER, Colo. - Growing up we have all heard that home is where the heart is. Still, what if you do not have a home to go to? For many children across the U.S. and around the world, this is the case. However, with the help of a local networking group, The North Denver Association of Entrepreneurs, and Adopt Colorado Kids sponsored organization, the Heart Gallery, a forever family may be just one photo away for these foster children.
Colorado is among forty-two states across the nation to have an active Heart Gallery. Since its initial efforts in 2005, the Heart Gallery has been very successful utilizing the skills of some of Colorado's most talented volunteer photographers to capture the essence of each child to find forever families.
Among the many local photographers helping this cause, Jennifer Tavera founder of Truth Photography LLC and The North Denver Association of Entrepreneurs has organized local small business owners from around the Metro area to fundraise for at Small Business Expo on Sunday Aug. 4, 2013. This event will benefit Adopt Colorado Kids and the Colorado Heart Gallery. In addition to raising money for these great organizations, the event will feature a Heart Gallery exhibit displaying portraits of many Colorado children waiting to be adopted. The local small businesses attending have all made a $10 donation to this great organization as well as donating an item for the raffle. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Adopt Colorado Kids which funds the Heart Gallery.
Founded in October 2011, The North Denver Association of Entrepreneurs is a networking group that utilizes knowledge and support of participating local business owners to help each business owner reach success and believes in giving back whenever they can. It was because of how adoption has played an unusual role in her life and this belief giving back that NDAE founder Jennifer Tavera chose to work with these organizations.
“We chose to raise money for the Colorado Heart Gallery because this cause has a special place in my heart. My mom was adopted as a baby, and my dad was a foster child. If it was not for adoption, who knows even if I would even be here,” said Mrs. Tavera.
This event is free, and open to the public. Over 30 vendors will be featured and will offer everything from clothes and jewelry, to affordable travel options and family portraiture.
